Stats & Training
Bulk defines Hypno's stat line. Sp. Def and HP anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Moderately hard to find and worth 2 Sp. Def stat exp.
When it is very hungry, it puts humans it meets to sleep, then it feasts on their dreams.
Always holding a pendulum that it rocks at a steady rhythm, it causes drowsiness in anyone nearby.
Hypno Weakness
Bug, Ghost, and Dark moves hit Hypno for super-effective damage. Hypno's special bulk (base 115 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def

Hypno Guide
For Gold & Silver, we rate Hypno C-Tier: a niche pick in Gold & Silver's meta. At 483 BST, it fits the support role. Reflect with Leftovers is the standard set.
At base 67 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Hypno is a special attacker with base 73 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a support.
In Gold & Silver, run Reflect, Body Slam, Rest, and Curse on Hypno. Reflect is the most common pick at 16% usage. Curse lets it set up before sweeping.
For Gold & Silver, Hypno has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type attackers hit hardest.
