Sword & Shield Glaceon Best Moveset

Icebody isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Leftovers for passive recovery each turn and max Sp. Atk without Speed EVs, Glaceon fills the defensive wall slot reliably. Bold nature finishes the spread.

Moves

The natural movepool does the job, but Curse and Detect from the egg pool give Glaceon something extra. Pair those with Blizzard and Ice Beam for STAB and coverage across 7 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

How to Get Glaceon in Sword & Shield

You're catching Eevee first, not Glaceon. Eevee appears at moderate rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

How to Obtain Glaceon in Sword & Shield

To get Glaceon, start by catching Eevee through walking encounters at Lv. 14-65. The chain covers 1 catchable stage before reaching the final form.

Glaceon Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Glaceon has a 525 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier: a solid option in Sword & Shield for the right team. It works best as a wallbreaker. Auroraveil with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, watch for Infernape (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Glaceon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Snow Cloak increases evasion to 1.25× during hail. That's the one you want on Glaceon. Ice Body is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • In Sword & Shield, Glaceon fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Sword & Shield, run Auroraveil, Protect, Ice Beam, and Helpinghand on Glaceon. Auroraveil is the most common pick at 21% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Glaceon has been available in 14 games since Diamond & Pearl, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
