As a protective technique, it can completely freeze its fur to make its hairs stand like needles.

Glaceon Weakness

Glaceon's Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. 4 weaknesses is about average, nothing too hard to play around.

Moves

The natural movepool does the job, but Charm and Covet from the egg pool give Glaceon something extra. Pair those with Blizzard and Ice Beam for STAB and coverage across 8 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

How to Get Glaceon in Diamond & Pearl

You're catching Eevee first, not Glaceon. Eevee appears at moderate rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

Glaceon Guide

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Glaceon has a 525 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a niche pick in Diamond & Pearl's meta. It works best as a wallbreaker. Base 130 Sp. Atk is where it shines.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, watch for Infernape (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Glaceon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Snow Cloak increases evasion to 1.25× during hail. That's the one you want on Glaceon. Ice Body is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Glaceon fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Diamond & Pearl, Glaceon has answers, but so do you. Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Physical attackers can break through.

Game Availability

Glaceon has been available in 14 games since Diamond & Pearl, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
