Stats & Training

Raw Attack carries Braviary's bulk more than the defenses do. Sp. Atk barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A moderately hard to find Valiant Pokemon that yields 2 Attack EVs on a slow 1.25M XP grind.

For the sake of its friends, this brave warrior of the sky will not stop battling, even if injured.

Braviary Weakness

Braviary is weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock. On the flip side, it's immune to Ground and Ghost-type moves entirely. With 100 HP and balanced defenses, Braviary can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

X & Y Braviary Best Moveset

Bravebird is the safe click most turns. Choice Scarf locks Braviary into it but rewards with speed patching through item lock. Adamant nature and max HP and Attack EVs maximize that first hit. Defiant helps on the margins.

Leveling does the heavy lifting. Braviary picks up Brave Bird and Superpower along the way, building toward a complete offensive set. TMs add Fighting and Rock coverage and more, but the foundation's already strong by then.

How to Get Braviary in X & Y

Braviary can't be caught in X & Y. Transfer Rufflet from White, White 2, or Scarlet and evolve through the 2-stage line to get it. The step cards below map the full chain.

Braviary Guide

  • In X & Y, Sheer Force changes the entire equation for Braviary. The 510 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Bravebird with Choice Scarf is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, Braviary's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric), Kyurem (Ice), and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Sheer Force is what you want on Braviary. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Keen Eye, Defiant) work on paper but Sheer Force is what makes Braviary worth using.

  • Base 80 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Braviary is a physical attacker with base 123 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • In X & Y, the best way to handle Braviary: Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.

Game Availability

Since debuting in Black & White, Braviary has appeared in 9 titles over 6 generations. Along the way, it received a Hisuian form in Generation 8, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
