Stats & Training
Blastoise's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Def leads, Speed trails, 4 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Sp. Def EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Blastoise Weakness
Electric and Grass moves hit Blastoise for super-effective damage. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Blastoise's overall bulk (79/100/105) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Scarlet & Violet Evolution
Blastoise is the final form in a three-stage chain from Squirtle through Wartortle. Breeding this form produces Squirtle eggs (average hatch time). Evolving from Squirtle gave Blastoise the biggest boost in Sp.Def (+41), bringing the total to 530 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Scarlet & Violet Blastoise Best Moveset
The recommended build leans into Blastoise's strengths as a special attacker. White Herb provides a one-time stat drop reset, and max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs back that up. Torrent rounds out the package.

Without TMs, Blastoise's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get coverage across 9 types on top of Hydro Cannon and Wave Crash for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

How to Get Blastoise in Scarlet & Violet
Blastoise can't be caught in Scarlet & Violet. Transfer Squirtle from Red, Yellow, or Brilliant Diamond and evolve through the 3-stage chain to get it. The step cards below map the full chain.
Blastoise Guide
In Scarlet & Violet, Blastoise has a 530 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a niche pick in Scarlet & Violet's meta. It works best as a balanced. Shellsmash with White Herb is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Scarlet & Violet, but Blastoise does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Blastoise hits 630 BST.
Torrent strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Blastoise. Rain Dish is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
In Scarlet & Violet, Blastoise fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker with base 83 Attack and 85 Sp. Atk. Base 78 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
Game Availability
Blastoise first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 21 games across 10 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 7 and a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
