Stats & Training
Blastoise's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Def leads, Speed trails, 4 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Sp. Def EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Blastoise Weakness
Electric and Grass moves hit Blastoise for super-effective damage. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Blastoise's overall bulk (79/100/105) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Steel |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In Black 2 & White 2, Magnezone's Thunderbolt hits Blastoise for 63-74%. Breloom's Bullet Seed hits Blastoise for 34-40%. Raikou deals 69-81% with Thunderbolt.

Black 2 & White 2 Blastoise Best Moveset
The recommended build leans into Blastoise's strengths as a defensive wall. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn, and max HP and Sp. Def EVs back that up. Torrent rounds out the package.

How to Get Blastoise in Black 2 & White 2
Blastoise isn't available in the wild in Black 2 & White 2. Start by transferring Squirtle from Red, Yellow, or Brilliant Diamond. The evolution path from Squirtle to Blastoise is covered in the steps below.
Blastoise Guide
In Black 2 & White 2, Blastoise has a 530 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a niche pick in Black 2 & White 2's meta. It works best as a balanced. Rapid Spin with Leftovers is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Black 2 & White 2, but Blastoise does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Blastoise hits 630 BST.
Torrent strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Blastoise. Rain Dish is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
In Black 2 & White 2, Blastoise fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 85 Sp. Atk. Base 78 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
Game Availability
Blastoise first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 21 games across 10 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 7 and a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
