Bellsprout Weakness

Bug, Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic moves hit Bellsprout for super-effective damage. Bug hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Bellsprout's special bulk (base 70 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Yellow Bellsprout Best Moveset

Best Build

Gen 1 build content has limited support (no abilities, held items, or natures).

Try selecting a different game/generation filter, or check back later.

Moves

Without TMs, Bellsprout's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal coverage on top of Solar Beam and Razor Leaf for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Bellsprout Guide

  • Weepinbell at level 21 is the mid-stage. Push through to Victreebel using a Leaf Stone for the final form. 340 BST right now won't cut it long-term.

  • Level 21 gets you Weepinbell. Not the fastest evolution, so consider Exp. Share or route grinding to speed it up.

  • In Yellow, Bellsprout does the job early-game if you need a Grass/Poison type on your team. Evolve it into Weepinbell before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

  • You can find Bellsprout in Yellow. The Locations section has the full breakdown of routes and encounter details. It also appears in 19 other games across the series.

Game Availability

Bellsprout has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 20 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
