Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Amaura's spread. It leans mixed with HP out front. And you'll get 1 HP EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
This Pokémon was successfully restored from a fossil. In the past, it lived with others of its kind in cold lands where there were fewer predators.
Amaura is an ancient Pokémon that has gone extinct. Specimens of this species can sometimes be found frozen in ice.
Amaura Weakness
Type-wise, Amaura takes extra damage from Fighting, Steel, Water, Grass, Ground, and Rock. Watch out for Fighting and Steel attacks, those deal 4x damage. The Rock/Ice typing picks up 4 resistances to work with.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fighting, Steel |

Sword & Shield Evolution
Amaura is the base form in a two-stage line leading to Aurorus. Check the evolution method below. Plenty of partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are slow to hatch. Evolving adds up to 159 stat points total. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve

Moves
The egg pool carries weight here. Aurora Veil and Discharge aren't available any other way for Amaura, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Meteor Beam and Blizzard for solid options.

Sword & Shield Amaura Locations
Amaura starts showing up in endgame routes at moderate rates across 36 encounter spots. The list below is sorted so you can pick what fits your current progress without scrolling through everything.
Best Locations to Catch Amaura in Sword & Shield
You can catch Amaura through 36 walking encounters from Lv. 60-65, but availability differs between Shield and Sword. Some spots are exclusive to one version.
Amaura Guide
At 362 BST, Amaura is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Aurorus before bringing it to any serious fight.
In Sword & Shield, Amaura's biggest threats include Lucario (Fighting), Metagross (Steel), and Milotic (Water), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Lucario is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Grass, Ground, and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Amaura gets Snow Warning and Refrigerate. But Snow Warning is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
In Sword & Shield, Snow Warning is the hidden ability. It summons hail that lasts indefinitely upon entering battle. Worth hunting for if you want Amaura to compete at a higher level.
Amaura is leaning toward the special side (base 67 Sp. Atk). Speed tells the real story. Base 46 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
Game Availability
Since X & Y, Amaura has been obtainable in 6 games. A Generation 6 debut means a shorter history, but Amaura has appeared steadily across every generation since.
