Is Treecko Good in Emerald Playthrough?
Emerald's best starter pick for the endgame. The early gyms are manageable: Roxanne is neutral, Brawly is neutral, Wattson resists Grass but Sceptile's Speed carries the fight. Mid-game through Flannery and Norman is fine. Then the finish: Juan's Water gym and Wallace's Water Champion team both fold to Grass. AbilityOvergrow powers up Grass at low HP. Treecko's Emerald journey is the smoothest because the final boss is Water.
Treecko resists most of Roxanne's coverage and hits back hard.
Grovyle has the type edge here and should clean up Brawly's team.
Grovyle trades roughly evenly with Wattson's team.
Grovyle trades roughly evenly with Flannery's team.

Treecko Emerald Guide
In Emerald, Treecko does the job early-game if you need a Grass type on your team. Evolve it into Grovyle before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
