They travel in groups of four or five, leaving signs for one another on trees and rocks. They bring down their prey with coordinated attacks.

Weavile Weakness

Fighting, Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy moves hit Weavile for super-effective damage. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Psychic-type moves can't touch it at all.

Sun & Moon Weavile Best Moveset

You commit to a move every time Weavile comes in. Choice Band gives raw power at the cost of move flexibility, and Pressure adds to that. Max Attack and Speed EVs make sure the locked move actually hurts. The remaining moves covers the rest.

Weavile Guide

  • In Sun & Moon, Weavile works as a sweeper with 510 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Sun & Moon for the right team. Knock Off with Choice Band is the standard set.

  • In Sun & Moon, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting), Arcanine (Fire), and Heracross (Bug) when using Weavile. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Hitmonlee is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Rock, Steel, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Pressure increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. That's the one you want on Weavile. Pickpocket is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Weavile is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 125 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • In Sun & Moon, run Knock Off, Iciclecrash, Ice Shard, and Pursuit on Weavile. Knock Off is the most common pick at 21% usage. Pursuit provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

Since Diamond & Pearl, Weavile has been in 13 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
