Don't skip the egg moves. Toxtricity picks up Endeavor and Metal Sound only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Belch and Gunk Shot while Normal and Fighting coverage and more adds range.

  2. Toxtricity
    Step 2Toxtricity

Toxtricity Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Don't let Toxtricity's 502 base stat total fool you. Technician is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as an attacker. Boomburst with Choice Specs is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, watch for Garchomp (Ground) and Gardevoir (Psychic) when using Toxtricity. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Garchomp is the most dangerous since Ground moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Sword & Shield, Run Technician on Toxtricity. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Toxtricity also gets Punk Rock and Plus, but they don't compare.

  • In Sword & Shield, Toxtricity fills the attacker role. It's a special attacker with base 114 Sp. Atk. Base 75 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Sword & Shield, run Boomburst, Overdrive, Volt Switch, and Shiftgear on Toxtricity. Boomburst is the most common pick at 23% usage. This set covers the attacker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Toxtricity first appeared in Sword & Shield and spans 3 games across 3 generations. It later gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
