When it battles, its beak heats up. The temperature can easily exceed 212 degrees Fahrenheit, causing severe burns when it hits.

Toucannon Weakness

Electric, Ice, and Rock moves hit Toucannon for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground and Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. With 80 HP and balanced defenses, Toucannon can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Toucannon Guide

  • In Sun & Moon, Sheer Force changes the entire equation for Toucannon. The 485 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Beakblast with Life Orb is the standard set.

  • In Sun & Moon, watch for Raikou (Electric), Kyurem (Ice), and Rhyperior (Rock) when using Toucannon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.

  • Sheer Force is what you want on Toucannon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Keen Eye, Skill Link) work on paper but Sheer Force is what makes Toucannon worth using.

  • At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Toucannon is leaning toward the physical side (base 120 Attack). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • In Sun & Moon, run Beakblast, Rock Blast, Bullet Seed, and Defog on Toucannon. Beakblast is the most common pick at 18% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Toucannon joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 3 titles so far. With 4 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
