Swampert Weakness

Swampert is weak to Grass. Watch out for Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. The Water/Ground typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Swampert's overall bulk (100/90/90) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Swampert Guide

  • In Platinum, Swampert works as a tank with 535 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Platinum for the right team. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Platinum, but Swampert does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Swampert hits 635 BST.

  • In Platinum, Swampert's biggest threats include Breloom (Grass), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Breloom is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Torrent is the go-to ability for Swampert. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Damp can work in specific setups.

  • Swampert is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.

Game Availability

Available since Ruby & Sapphire, Swampert appears in 16 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
