Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Swampert's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 3 Attack EVs per KO for it. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It can swim while towing a large ship. It bashes down foes with a swing of its thick arms.
Swampert Weakness
Swampert is weak to Grass. Watch out for Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. The Water/Ground typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Swampert's overall bulk (100/90/90) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Poison, Rock, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Electric |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

How to Get Swampert in Platinum
Swampert isn't available in the wild in Platinum. Start by transferring Mudkip from Ruby, Emerald, or Brilliant Diamond. The evolution path from Mudkip to Swampert is covered in the steps below.
How to Obtain Swampert in Platinum
Swampert Guide
In Platinum, Swampert works as a tank with 535 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Platinum for the right team. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Platinum, but Swampert does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Swampert hits 635 BST.
Torrent is the go-to ability for Swampert. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Damp can work in specific setups.
Swampert is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.
Game Availability
Available since Ruby & Sapphire, Swampert appears in 16 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
