Stats & Training
An unusually even spread gives Golduck flexibility. Speed barely edges ahead. But Defense isn't far off. Moderately hard to find and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve. Yields 2 Special stat exp.
Often seen swimming elegantly by lake shores. It is often mistaken for the Japanese monster, Kappa.

Golduck Weakness
Golduck's Water typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric and Grass. Few weaknesses and 3 resistances make the typing clean. With 80 HP and balanced defenses, Golduck can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Golduck Guide
For Red & Blue, we rate Golduck C-Tier: a niche pick in Red & Blue's meta. At 485 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Amnesia anchors the moveset.
Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Golduck is a special attacker with base 80 Special. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Red & Blue, run Amnesia, Blizzard, Hydro Pump, and Surf on Golduck. Amnesia is the most common pick at 24% usage. Surf provides reliable STAB damage.
For Red & Blue, Golduck has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Electric and Grass-type attackers hit hardest.
