The solar rays it absorbs are processed in its energy core and fired as a ball of light.
Compressing the energy from its internal core lets it fire off an attack capable of blowing away a mountain.

Type-wise, Gigalith takes extra damage from Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Gigalith's physical bulk (base 130 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

In X & Y, Sand Stream changes the entire equation for Gigalith. The 515 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Superpower with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.
In X & Y, Gigalith's biggest threats include Swampert (Water), Roserade (Grass), and Lucario (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Ground and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 25 Speed, Gigalith won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Sand Stream is what you want on Gigalith. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Sturdy, Sand Force) work on paper but Sand Stream is what makes Gigalith worth using. On wall sets, Sand Stream pairs with Gigalith's base 130 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.
Base 25 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Gigalith is a physical attacker with base 135 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a wallbreaker.
For X & Y, the core moveset is Superpower, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, and Stealth Rock. Superpower leads at 14% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.
