An odd species that is rarely found. The three heads respectively represent joy, sadness, and anger.

Dodrio Weakness

Electric, Ice, and Rock moves hit Dodrio for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground and Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. At base 100 Speed, Dodrio outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.

Dodrio Guide

  • For FireRed & LeafGreen, we rate Dodrio C-Tier: a niche pick in FireRed & LeafGreen's meta. At 460 BST, it fits the sweeper role. Drill Peck with Choice Band is the standard set.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, watch for Raikou (Electric), Lapras (Ice), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Dodrio. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Dodrio's base 100 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.

  • Run Away ensures success fleeing from wild battles. That's the one you want on Dodrio. Tangled Feet is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Early Bird works too if your team needs something different.

  • Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Dodrio is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Best used as a sweeper.

  • For FireRed & LeafGreen, Dodrio has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Dodrio has appeared in 19 games — most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
