Cryogonal Weakness

Cryogonal's Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. Levitate grants an additional Ground immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Cryogonal's special bulk (base 135 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

X & Y Evolution

Cryogonal doesn't evolve, so breeding's where the action is. You'll find no compatible partners across one egg group, and eggs are average hatch time. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

X & Y Cryogonal Best Moveset

Cryogonal doesn't rely on pure speed. Rocky Helmet gives it chip damage on every physical hit received to stay healthy, and Timid nature still pushes offense. Freezedry and the remaining moves keep the pressure on while flexible EVs balance power and survivability.

Cryogonal develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Ice Beam and Solar Beam show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.

Cryogonal Guide

  • In X & Y, Don't let Cryogonal's 485 base stat total fool you. Levitate is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a support. Freezedry with Rocky Helmet is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, watch for Charizard (Fire), Hitmonlee (Fighting), and Tyranitar (Rock) when using Cryogonal. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • In X & Y, Run Levitate on Cryogonal. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche.

  • In X & Y, Cryogonal fills the support role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 95 Sp. Atk). Base 105 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In X & Y, run Freezedry, Rapid Spin, Recover, and Flash Cannon on Cryogonal. Freezedry is the most common pick at 24% usage. This set covers the support role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Introduced in Black & White, Cryogonal has appeared in 9 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
