A rough customer that wildly flails its giant claws. It is said to be extremely hard to raise.

Crawdaunt Weakness

Type-wise, Crawdaunt takes extra damage from Electric, Grass, Fighting, Bug, and Fairy. Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. 6 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Crawdaunt's physical bulk (base 85 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Sword & Shield Crawdaunt Best Moveset

Prediction matters here. Choice Band means Crawdaunt can't change moves after clicking, but the payoff is raw power at the cost of move flexibility. Max Attack and Speed EVs with Adaptability back that up. The remaining moves prevents free switches.

Crawdaunt Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Don't let Crawdaunt's 468 base stat total fool you. Adaptability is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it B-Tier as a cannon. Knock Off with Choice Band is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, Crawdaunt's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric), Exeggutor (Grass), and Blaziken (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Bug and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Sword & Shield, Run Adaptability on Crawdaunt. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Crawdaunt also gets Hyper Cutter and Shell Armor, but they don't compare.

  • In Sword & Shield, Crawdaunt fills the cannon role. It's a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Sword & Shield, the core moveset is Knock Off, Aqua Jet, Crabhammer, and Close Combat. Knock Off leads at 24% usage. Crabhammer provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

Crawdaunt first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 15 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
