Sword & Shield Cherrim Best Moveset

Cherrim leads with Focus Sash insurance. Even if it can't take a hit naturally, it'll survive long enough to deal early damage. Max Attack and Speed EVs go all-in on offense since bulk doesn't matter here.

Cherrim Guide

  • For Sword & Shield, we rate Cherrim C-Tier: a niche pick in Sword & Shield's meta. At 450 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Weatherball with Focus Sash is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Cherrim. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Flower Gift increases friendly Pokémon's Attack and Special Defense to 1.5× during strong sunlight. That's the one you want on Cherrim. It's the only ability Cherrim has.

  • Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Cherrim is leaning toward the special side (base 87 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Sword & Shield, Cherrim has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

Available in 12 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Cherrim spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
