Machamp Guide

  • In Crystal, Machamp works as a wallbreaker with 505 BST behind it. A-Tier on our list: a strong pick in Crystal's competitive scene. Crosschop with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Crystal, Machamp's biggest threats include Dodrio (Flying) and Starmie (Psychic), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Machamp is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the wallbreaker role.

  • In Crystal, the best way to handle Machamp: Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.

  • For Crystal, the core moveset is Crosschop, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Curse. Crosschop leads at 25% usage. Curse lets it set up before sweeping.

Game Availability

Available since Red & Blue, Machamp appears in 21 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8.
