Emerald Swalot Best Moveset

Bulk and offense in one package. Swalot runs Leftovers for passive recovery each turn with a Adamant nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Sludge Bomb. Max HP and Attack EVs and Normal coverage make it hard to safely switch into.

Swalot Guide

  • In Emerald, Swalot brings 467 BST to the table. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Emerald's meta. Sludge Bomb with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Emerald, watch for Swampert (Ground) and Espeon (Psychic) when using Swalot. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Liquid Ooze damages opponents using leeching moves for as much as they would heal. That's the one you want on Swalot. Gluttony is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sticky Hold works too if your team needs something different.

  • Swalot is a physical attacker with base 73 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often.

  • For Emerald, Swalot has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Ground and Psychic-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Swalot appears in 15 games across 8 generations. A reliable presence in most mainline games, typically found through wild encounters.
