Stats & Training

Everything pushes toward mixed damage here. Simisage's Speed does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 2 Speed EVs per KO. Moderately hard to find, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

One boost from Nasty Plot and Simisage gets dangerous fast. The Jolly nature targets max Attack and Speed, and Overgrow backs the whole approach. Seedbomb and the remaining moves handle most of what's left standing.

Simisage Guide

  • In Sun & Moon, Simisage works as a pivot with 498 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Sun & Moon's meta. Seedbomb with Nothing is the standard set.

  • In Sun & Moon, Simisage's biggest threats include Blaziken (Fire), Weavile (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Simisage's base 101 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.

  • Gluttony is the go-to ability for Simisage. It makes the Pokémon eat any held Berry triggered by low HP below 1/2 its max HP. Its hidden ability Overgrow can work in specific setups.

  • Simisage is a mixed attacker with base 98 Attack and 98 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 101 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the pivot role.

  • In Sun & Moon, the best way to handle Simisage: Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

Since Black & White, Simisage has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Simisage has appeared steadily across every generation since.
