Stats & Training
Everything pushes toward special damage here. Magmortar's Sp. Atk does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Sp. Atk EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Use of a strange item caused this Pokémon to evolve. Fireballs launched from the ends of its tubelike arms are hot enough to melt an iron pot in an instant.
Magmortar Weakness
Magmortar's Fire typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Ground, and Rock. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Magmortar's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Legends: Arceus Evolution
Magmortar evolved from Magby's chain using a trade. It's a non-standard trigger, so check the details below. Breed this form to get Magby eggs (average hatch time). The evolution from Magby pushed Magmortar to 540 total stats. Sp.Atk saw the largest single gain at +55. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Legends: Arceus Magmortar Best Moveset
Prediction matters here. Choice Scarf means Magmortar can't change moves after clicking, but the payoff is speed patching through item lock. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs with Flame Body back that up. Electric coverage prevents free switches.

Moves
The offense anchors on Fire Blast and Flamethrower, with coverage across 7 types adding reach. It's a workable movepool for Magmortar that handles most situations. Flamethrower and Fire Blast give it enough punch where it matters.

Magmortar Guide
In Legends: Arceus, Magmortar works as a wallbreaker with 540 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Legends: Arceus's meta. Thunderbolt with Choice Scarf is the standard set.
In Legends: Arceus, watch for Milotic (Water), Golem (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Magmortar. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.
Flame Body has a 30% chance of burning attacking Pokémon on contact. That's the one you want on Magmortar. Vital Spirit is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Magmortar is a special attacker with base 125 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 83 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.
For Legends: Arceus, Magmortar has answers, but so do you. Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Physical attackers can break through.
Game Availability
Since Diamond & Pearl, Magmortar has been in 13 games. Requiring a trade evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
