Moves

Don't skip the egg moves. Lumineon picks up Agility and Aqua Tail only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Surf and Aqua Tail while coverage across 8 types adds range.

Lumineon Guide

  • In Platinum, Swift Swim changes the entire equation for Lumineon. The 460 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked D-Tier.

  • In Platinum, watch for Raikou (Electric) and Breloom (Grass) when using Lumineon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Swift Swim is what you want on Lumineon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Storm Drain, Water Veil) work on paper but Swift Swim is what makes Lumineon worth using.

  • Base 91 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Lumineon is leaning toward the physical side (base 69 Attack). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Platinum, Lumineon has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Electric and Grass-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

Available in 13 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Lumineon spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
