Stats & Training
You won't find a real weakness in Kakuna's stat line. It's well-rounded for the Cocoon Pokemon, and what it does with that depends on moveset and items. Yields 2 Defense stat exp, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Able to move only slightly. When endangered, it may stick out its stinger and poison its enemy.
Kakuna Weakness
Type-wise, Kakuna takes extra damage from Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, and Rock. Kakuna's physical bulk (base 50 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
In Yellow, Slowbro can KO Kakuna with Surf (115-135%). Articuno threatens a KO with Blizzard (135-158%). Golem's Explosion also KOs at 157-185%.
