Stats & Training
The stat budget goes to damage. Sp. Atk and Speed carry the offense, Defense doesn't even come close. A Sun Pokemon on a medium-fast 1M XP curve, worth 2 Sp. Atk stat exp per KO.
The tip of its forked tail quivers when it is predicting its opponent’s next move.
Espeon Weakness
Espeon is weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark. Espeon's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def
In Crystal, Gengar's Explosion hits Espeon for 70-83%. Cloyster threatens a KO with Explosion (96-113%). Tyranitar deals 58-69% with Rock Slide.

Moves
TMs carry this one. Espeon learns Dream Eater and Psychic naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Steel and beyond give it real matchup play.

Espeon Guide
For Crystal, we rate Espeon B-Tier: a solid option in Crystal for the right team. At 525 BST, it fits the setup sweeper role. Psychic with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Crystal, Espeon's biggest threats include Scyther (Bug), Misdreavus (Ghost), and Tyranitar (Dark), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.
Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Espeon is a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a setup sweeper.
For Crystal, the core moveset is Psychic, Growth, Morningsun, and Baton Pass. Psychic leads at 25% usage. Psychic provides reliable STAB damage. Growth lets it set up before sweeping.
In Crystal, the best way to handle Espeon: Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
