Dugtrio Weakness

Dugtrio's Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Grass, and Ice. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. At base 120 Speed, Dugtrio outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.

Dugtrio Guide

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, watch for Starmie (Water), Venusaur (Grass), and Cloyster (Ice) when using Dugtrio. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Dugtrio's base 120 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Diglett evolves into Dugtrio at level 26. Dugtrio is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Diglett. It sits at 405 BST in its evolved form.

  • For FireRed & LeafGreen, it depends on your team. Dugtrio at 405 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Ground coverage might be exactly what you're missing.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Dugtrio has a 405 base stat total and ranks as A-Tier: a strong pick in FireRed & LeafGreen's competitive scene. It works best as a pivot. Earthquake with Choice Band is the standard set.

  • Sand Veil increases evasion to 1.25× during a sandstorm. That's the one you want on Dugtrio. Sand Force is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Arena Trap works too if your team needs something different.

Game Availability

Dugtrio first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 20 games across 10 generations. It later gained an Alolan form in Generation 7, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
