Due to its relaxed and carefree attitude, it often bumps its head on boulders and boat hulls as it swims.

Quagsire Weakness

Quagsire's Water/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Grass. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. With 95 HP and balanced defenses, Quagsire can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Quagsire Guide

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, watch for Exeggutor (Grass) when using Quagsire. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Exeggutor is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 35 Speed, Quagsire won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Wooper evolves into Quagsire at level 20. Quagsire is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Wooper. It sits at 430 BST in its evolved form.

  • For FireRed & LeafGreen, it depends on your team. Quagsire at 430 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Water/Ground coverage might be exactly what you're missing.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Don't let Quagsire's 430 base stat total fool you. Unaware is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a trick room. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Run Unaware on Quagsire. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Quagsire also gets Damp and Water Absorb, but they don't compare.

Game Availability

Quagsire first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 17 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
