Marshtomp Weakness
Marshtomp's Water/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Grass. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses.

Marshtomp Emerald Guide
Marshtomp is meant to evolve into Swampert. At 405 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Torrent strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Marshtomp. It's the only ability Marshtomp has.
Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Marshtomp is a mixed attacker with base 85 Attack and 60 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Emerald, you can run Marshtomp through the first few routes without issues. 405 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Swampert as fast as you can.
Game Availability
Available in 16 titles since its debut in Ruby & Sapphire, Marshtomp spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in most mainline games.
