Is Electrode Good in Crystal Playthrough?
Fastest Pokemon in Crystal. Electrode outspeeds everything and MoveThunderbolt hits Water and Flying trainers before they can move. But the damage ceiling is low, and Crystal's move tutor means other Pokemon can carry the same Electric coverage with more power behind it.

Electrode Evolutions
Electrode is what Voltorb becomes. Breed it for Voltorb eggs (average hatch time). No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. The evolution from Voltorb pushed Electrode to 480 total stats. Speed saw the largest single gain at +40. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Electrode is genderless — breed with Ditto to produce Voltorb eggs. Part of the Mineral egg group.

140 Speed means acting first every single turn. MoveThunderbolt from 80 Sp. Atk chips at moderate power, and MoveExplosion converts the entire HP pool into one massive physical hit. Held ItemLeftovers sustains until the moment arrives to detonate. The choice each turn is always chip or close.

The level-up pool tells the story here. Electrode learns Self-Destruct and Explosion naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Normal and Rock coverage extends the reach beyond that.

Electrode Crystal Guide
In Crystal, Electrode works as a pivot with 480 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Crystal for the right team. Explosion with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Crystal, watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Electrode. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Electrode's base 140 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.
Electrode is a static encounter at Johto Team Rocket Hq in Crystal. Electrode appears at level 23. Save before the encounter. These one-shot Pokemon don't respawn if you knock them out or run out of Poke Balls.
Electrode is a special attacker with base 80 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 140 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the pivot role.
In Crystal, run Explosion, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, and Reflect on Electrode. Explosion is the most common pick at 0% usage. Thunderbolt provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
