Is Bellsprout Good in Red & Blue Playthrough?

The Blue version counterpart to Oddish. Bellsprout fills the Grass-type slot if you didn't pick Bulbasaur. Fragile early but Victreebel hits hard enough to justify the investment.

Bellsprout Weakness

Bug, Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic moves hit Bellsprout for super-effective damage. Bug hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Bellsprout's special bulk (base 70 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

RB Bellsprout Best Moveset

Putting a target to sleep had almost no counterplay in this generation, so MoveSleep Powder alone earns a mention. The pre-evolution stats can't do anything after the sleep lands, but one free turn for the team is still worth the slot in lower formats.
