Stats & Training
The stat budget goes to damage. Speed and Sp. Atk carry the offense, HP doesn't even come close. A Mysterious Pokemon on a slow 1.25M XP grind, worth 2 Speed stat exp per KO.
The center section of its body is called the core. It glows in a different color each time it is seen.
Regardless of the environment it lives in, its body grows to form a symmetrical geometric shape.
Starmie Weakness
Electric, Grass, Bug, Ghost, and Dark moves hit Starmie for super-effective damage. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. 5 weaknesses means you'll want teammates that can handle the coverage gaps.

Don't skip the egg moves. Starmie picks up Aurora Beam and Barrier only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Dream Eater and Psychic while Normal and Ice coverage adds range.

Starmie Guide
For Gold & Silver, we rate Starmie A-Tier: a strong pick in Gold & Silver's competitive scene. At 520 BST, it fits the sweeper role. Surf with Leftovers is the standard set.
Base 115 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Starmie is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a sweeper.
For Gold & Silver, Starmie has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
In Gold & Silver, run Surf, Recover, Rapid Spin, and Thunder Wave on Starmie. Surf is the most common pick at 20% usage. Surf provides reliable STAB damage.
