Stats & Training
Shaymin's stats barely vary. 6 sit in respectable range with no real gaps. It's a blank slate for EV investment. Worth 3 HP EVs, 1.06M XP medium-slow curve to max.
It can dissolve toxins in the air to instantly transform ruined land into a lush field of flowers.
The blooming of Gracidea flowers confers the power of flight upon it. Feelings of gratitude are the message it delivers.
Shaymin Weakness
Shaymin is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Shaymin's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Electric, Grass, Ground |

X & Y Shaymin Best Moveset
Bulk and offense in one package. Shaymin runs Assault Vest for a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed with a Modest nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Earthpower. Max HP and Sp. Atk EVs and the remaining moves make it hard to safely switch into.

TMs define Shaymin's movepool. The natural moves cover basics with Seed Flare and Solar Beam, but the real versatility comes from technical machines giving it Normal and Fairy coverage and more. That's where the options open up.

Shaymin Guide
In X & Y, Shaymin is a Mythical Pokemon rated C-Tier. At 600 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. Earthpower with Assault Vest is the standard set.
In X & Y, Shaymin's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Shaymin has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
In X & Y, Run Natural Cure on Shaymin. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. With base 100 Speed, Natural Cure gives Shaymin an edge before opponents can react.
In X & Y, Shaymin fills the sweeper role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 100 Attack). Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
For X & Y, the core moveset is Earthpower, Seedflare, Air Slash, and Dazzling Gleam. Earthpower leads at 24% usage. This set covers the sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
As a Mythical Pokemon, Shaymin has limited availability — 12 games since its debut in Diamond & Pearl. Typically obtained through special events or in-game quests rather than standard encounters.
