Stats & Training
Attack and HP carry most of Pignite's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
When its internal fire flares up, its movements grow sharper and faster. When in trouble, it emits smoke.
Whatever it eats becomes fuel for the flame in its stomach. When it is angered, the intensity of the flame increases.
Pignite Weakness
Pignite's Fire/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Ground, Flying, and Psychic. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Flying, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Ice, Dark, Steel |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Bug |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In Black & White, Dragonite's Outrage hits Pignite for 62-73%. Excadrill threatens a KO with Earthquake (95-112%).

Black & White Evolution
Partway through Tepig's chain. Pignite still has another evolution ahead before reaching Emboar. For breeding, average hatch time with a massive partner pool via one egg group. So far, Attack got the biggest boost (+30 from Tepig). The final form adds another 110 stats on top. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

Breed with Pignite to get Tepig eggs using 181 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Body Slam, Covet, Curse and 7 more.
Black & White Pignite Best Moveset
Don't let the NFE status fool you. Pignite with Eviolite hits bulk numbers that compete with final forms. Max HP and Attack EVs and Adamant nature maximize that, and Blaze handles the rest.

How to Get Pignite in Black & White
Can't catch Pignite directly. Start with Tepig but it's a rare spawn from the locations below, then evolve at level 17. The 2-stage line from Tepig to Pignite is where the leveling time goes.

Pignite Guide
Pignite is meant to evolve into Emboar. At 418 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
In Black & White, watch for Milotic (Water), Swampert (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Flying) when using Pignite. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem.
Thick Fat is what you want on Pignite. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Blaze) work on paper but Thick Fat is what makes Pignite worth using.
In Black & White, Pignite's hidden ability is Thick Fat. Halves damage from fire and ice moves. Better than the standard options for competitive play.
Game Availability
Pignite joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
