Stats & Training
Attack and HP carry most of Pignite's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
The more it eats, the more fuel it has to make the fire in its stomach stronger. This fills it with even more power.
When its internal fire flares up, its movements grow sharper and faster. When in trouble, it emits smoke.
Pignite Weakness
Pignite's Fire/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Ground, Flying, and Psychic. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Flying, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Ice, Dark, Steel |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Bug |
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Latios can KO Pignite with Psyshock (172-203%). Gastrodon threatens a KO with Scald (96-113%). Gliscor's Earthquake also KOs at 105-123%.

Pignite Guide
Pignite is meant to evolve into Emboar. At 418 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, watch for Milotic (Water), Swampert (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Flying) when using Pignite. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem.
Thick Fat is what you want on Pignite. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Blaze) work on paper but Thick Fat is what makes Pignite worth using.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Pignite's hidden ability is Thick Fat. Halves damage from fire and ice moves. Better than the standard options for competitive play.
Game Availability
Pignite joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
