Stats & Training

An unusually even spread gives Pidgey flexibility. Speed barely edges ahead. But Special isn't far off. Easy to catch and follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve. Yields 1 Speed stat exp.

Yellow Pidgey Best Moveset

Best Build

Gen 1 build content has limited support (no abilities, held items, or natures).

Try selecting a different game/generation filter, or check back later.

Moves

TMs carry this one. Pidgey learns Sky Attack and Double-Edge naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. And beyond give it real matchup play.

Pidgey Guide

  • Pidgey becomes Pidgeotto at level 18, then Pidgeot at level 36. Straight three-stage line with no branching.

  • Pidgey evolves into Pidgeotto at level 18. Early evolution, you'll hit it before the third gym in most games.

  • For Yellow, you can run Pidgey through the first few routes without issues. 251 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Pidgeotto as fast as you can.

  • Pidgey is catchable in Yellow. Check the Locations section above for specific routes, encounter rates, and methods. It also appears in 18 other games across the series.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Pidgey has appeared in 19 games — most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
