Stats & Training
Mismagius's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, HP trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Sp. Atk and Sp. Def EVs, on a fast 800K XP curve.
Its cry sounds like an incantation. It is said the cry may rarely be imbued with happiness-giving power.
Mismagius Weakness
Ghost and Dark moves hit Mismagius for super-effective damage. The upside? Normal and Fighting-type moves can't touch it at all. Levitate grants an additional Ground immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Mismagius's special bulk (base 105 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Poison, Bug |
| 0x (Immune) | Normal, Fighting |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In Platinum, Tyranitar can KO Mismagius with Crunch (156-184%). Gengar threatens a KO with Shadow Ball (126-148%).

Mismagius Guide
In Platinum, Don't let Mismagius's 495 base stat total fool you. Levitate is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a sweeper. Shadow Ball with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Platinum, Run Levitate on Mismagius. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. With base 105 Speed, Levitate gives Mismagius an edge before opponents can react.
In Platinum, Mismagius fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 105 Sp. Atk. Base 105 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Platinum, Mismagius has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
Game Availability
Mismagius has been available in 12 games since Diamond & Pearl, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
