Stats & Training
Lickitung's spread favors balanced defenses over offense. HP leads the defensive side, Speed eats the cost. Yields 2 HP EVs per defeat. Medium-fast 1M XP curve to level.
Whenever it sees something unfamiliar, it always licks the object because it memorizes things by texture and taste. It is somewhat put off by sour things.
Lickitung Weakness
Lickitung is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. With 90 HP and balanced defenses, Lickitung can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Lickitung Guide
In Emerald, Lickitung isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Lickilicky to unlock its full potential. At 385 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
In Emerald, Lickitung's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Lickitung won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Own Tempo is the go-to ability for Lickitung. It prevents confusion. Its hidden ability Cloud Nine can work in specific setups. Oblivious is the other option. Pick based on what your team needs.
In Emerald, Lickitung fills the balanced role. It's a physical attacker with base 55 Attack. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Emerald, Lickitung does the job early-game if you need a Normal type on your team. Evolve it into Lickilicky before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
