Raw HP carries Exploud's bulk more than the defenses do. Defense barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Loud Noise Pokemon that yields 3 HP EVs on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Its howls can be heard over six miles away. It emits all sorts of noises from the ports on its body.

Exploud Weakness

Exploud's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. With 104 HP and balanced defenses, Exploud can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Diamond & Pearl Exploud Best Moveset

The moveset leans on Psychic and Fire coverage to catch would-be counters. Life Orb means extra damage on every hit for a health trade for Exploud, and max Attack and Speed EVs make sure nothing walls it cleanly. Soundproof fills in the gaps.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Exploud won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Hyper Beam and Giga Impact anchor the STAB core.

How to Get Exploud in Diamond & Pearl

You're catching Whismur first, not Exploud. Whismur appears in the wild in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.

Exploud Guide

  • For Diamond & Pearl, we rate Exploud C-Tier: a niche pick in Diamond & Pearl's meta. At 490 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Ice Beam with Life Orb is the standard set.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Exploud. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Soundproof protects against sound-based moves. That's the one you want on Exploud. Scrappy is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • At base 68 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Exploud is a special attacker with base 91 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Diamond & Pearl, Exploud has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fighting-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

Available in 14 titles since its debut in Ruby & Sapphire, Exploud spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
