Sword & Shield Drampa Best Moveset

Drampa doesn't rely on pure speed. Heavy-Duty Boots gives it hazard immunity on every switch-in to stay healthy, and Modest nature still pushes offense. Energy Ball and Fire coverage keep the pressure on while max HP and Sp. Atk EVs balance power and survivability.

Drampa Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Don't let Drampa's 485 base stat total fool you. Sap Sipper is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Energy Ball with Heavy-Duty Boots is the standard set.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Sword & Shield, but Drampa does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Drampa hits 585 BST.

  • In Sword & Shield, Drampa's biggest threats include Lapras (Ice), Hitmonlee (Fighting), and Salamence (Dragon), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. At base 36 Speed, Drampa won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • In Sword & Shield, Run Sap Sipper on Drampa. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Drampa also gets Berserk and Cloud Nine, but they don't compare.

  • In Sword & Shield, Drampa fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 135 Sp. Atk. Base 36 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

Game Availability

Drampa first appeared in Sun & Moon and spans 4 games across 4 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 7, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
