Stats & Training
Dewgong's spread favors balanced defenses over offense. Sp. Def leads the defensive side, Attack eats the cost. Yields 2 Sp. Def EVs per defeat. Medium-fast 1M XP curve to level.
Its body is covered with a pure white fur. The colder the weather, the more active it becomes.
Its streamlined body has little drag in water. The colder the temperature, the friskier it gets.
Dewgong Weakness
Dewgong's Water/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Fighting, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Ice |
In X & Y, Serperior's Leaf Storm hits Dewgong for 63-75%. Zapdos's Thunderbolt hits Dewgong for 53-63%. Tyranitar's Stone Edge also KOs at 109-128%.

X & Y Dewgong Best Moveset
Thickfat isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Sitrus Berry for a one-time health recovery at low HP and spread EVs, Dewgong fills the defensive wall slot reliably. Sassy nature finishes the spread.

How to Get Dewgong in X & Y
Dewgong Guide
In X & Y, Don't let Dewgong's 475 base stat total fool you. Thick Fat is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Fakeout with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.
In X & Y, Run Thick Fat on Dewgong. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Dewgong also gets Hydration and Ice Body, but they don't compare.
In X & Y, Dewgong fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 70 Attack). Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In X & Y, run Fakeout, Disable, Perishsong, and Protect on Dewgong. Fakeout is the most common pick at 25% usage. This set covers the balanced role with a mix of damage and utility.
