Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Iceberg Pokemon still yields 2 Defense EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
As Avalugg walks along with Bergmite on its back, it comes across pods of Cetitan. It lets them pass to avoid conflict.
This Pokémon uses its massive icy body to flatten anything that gets in its way. When it’s floating out on the ocean, it looks exactly like drift ice.
Avalugg Weakness
Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel moves hit Avalugg for super-effective damage. Avalugg's physical bulk (base 184 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

How to Get Avalugg in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
Avalugg Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Avalugg works as a wallbreaker with 514 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon's meta. Rapid Spin with Rocky Helmet is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Infernape (Fire), Conkeldurr (Fighting), and Golem (Rock) when using Avalugg. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem. At base 28 Speed, Avalugg won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Own Tempo prevents confusion. That's the one you want on Avalugg. Sturdy is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Ice Body works too if your team needs something different.
Avalugg is a physical attacker with base 117 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 28 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the wallbreaker role.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, run Rapid Spin, Avalanche, Recover, and Earthquake on Avalugg. Rapid Spin is the most common pick at 23% usage. Avalanche provides reliable STAB damage.
