Is Typhlosion Good in Crystal Playthrough?
Crystal's most important starter choice. The move tutor gives MoveFlamethrower to other Pokemon, but Typhlosion has been providing Fire coverage since the first gym. No other Pokemon fills that gap as early or as consistently. Handles Jasmine, Pryce, and most of Kanto from the front of the party.

Typhlosion Crystal Guide
For Crystal, we rate Typhlosion B-Tier: a solid option in Crystal for the right team. At 534 BST, it fits the sweeper role. Fire Blast with Charcoal is the standard set.
Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Typhlosion is a special attacker with base 109 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a sweeper.
In Crystal, run Fire Blast, Sunnyday, Dynamicpunch, and Hiddenpowergrass on Typhlosion. Fire Blast is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.
For Crystal, Typhlosion has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
Game Availability
Since debuting in Gold & Silver, Typhlosion has appeared in 17 titles over 9 generations. Along the way, it received a Hisuian form in Generation 8, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
