Throh Weakness

Type-wise, Throh takes extra damage from Flying and Psychic. Few weaknesses and 3 resistances make the typing clean. Throh's overall bulk (120/85/85) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

120 HP and 100 Attack with AbilityGuts turning status into a power boost. The moveset fires physical Fighting TermStab from behind impressive HP. 85/85 defenses absorb hits from both sides. 45 Speed means always going last, but the bulk sustains through it.

Moves List

TMs carry this one. Throh learns Superpower and Focus Blast naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Ground and beyond give it real matchup play.

When it tightens its belt, it becomes stronger. Wild Throh use vines to weave their own belts.

When they encounter foes bigger than themselves, they try to throw them. They always travel in packs of five.

Throh Black & White Guide

  • In Black & White, Mold Breaker changes the entire equation for Throh. The 465 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a tank. Rest with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Black & White, Throh's biggest threats include Staraptor (Flying) and Reuniclus (Psychic), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Mold Breaker is what you want on Throh. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Guts, Inner Focus) work on paper but Mold Breaker is what makes Throh worth using.

  • Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Throh is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a tank.

  • For Black & White, the core moveset is Rest, Circlethrow, Sleep Talk, and Bulk Up. Rest leads at 0% usage. This set covers the tank role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Throh joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
