Is Rampardos Good in Diamond & Pearl Playthrough?

AbilityMold Breaker ignores abilities on the opponent. Rampardos hits harder physically than almost anything else available in Sinnoh. Glass cannon: massive Attack with paper-thin defenses. Handles Candice, Flint, and Aaron through raw power. One hit from Rampardos usually ends the fight.

Its powerful head butt has enough power to shatter even the most durable things upon impact.

Its skull is as hard as iron. It is a brute that tears down jungle trees while catching prey.

Rampardos Diamond & Pearl Guide

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Sheer Force changes the entire equation for Rampardos. The 495 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a cannon. Earthquake with Choice Scarf is the standard set.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, watch for Starmie (Water), Breloom (Grass), and Lucario (Fighting) when using Rampardos. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Ground and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Mold Breaker is what you want on Rampardos. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind.

  • At base 58 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Rampardos is a physical attacker with base 165 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a cannon.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, run Earthquake, Firepunch, Head Smash, and Thunderpunch on Rampardos. Earthquake is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the cannon role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Available in 12 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Rampardos spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
