Is Persian Good in Red & Blue Playthrough?
Fast and well-rounded but unremarkable. Persian gets MoveSlash, which crits constantly thanks to Gen 1's Speed-based crit formula. That's the niche. For a Normal-type, Tauros does everything better. Persian fills a slot without standing out.

Persian Weakness
Fighting moves hit Persian for super-effective damage. The upside? Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. At base 115 Speed, Persian outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Moves List
The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Persian's Dark and Water coverage all comes from technical machines, built on top of Hyper Beam and Skull Bash for same-type damage. Double-Edge and Hyper Beam are the payoff moves.

Persian Red & Blue Guide
In Red & Blue, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Persian. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Persian's base 115 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.
For Red & Blue, it depends on your team. Persian at 440 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Normal coverage might be exactly what you're missing.
In Red & Blue, Persian works as a pivot with 440 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Red & Blue for the right team. Slash anchors the moveset.
Persian is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Speed tells the real story. Base 115 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the pivot role.
Persian has an Alolan form that swaps the typing and reshuffles the stats. Introduced in Gen 7. Worth checking if the original version doesn't fit your team.
Game Availability
Available since Red & Blue, Persian appears in 21 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained an Alolan form in Generation 7.
