Natu Evolutions
Natu evolves into Xatu. It's a two-stage chain with the method shown below. A decent partner pool for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. The evolved forms gain up to 150 total stats over Natu. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
Breeding
Breed Natu easily with 25 breeding partners from the Flying egg group. Pass egg moves like Drill Peck, Feather Dance, Feint Attack and 5 more to offspring.
RS Natu Best Moveset
Psychic/Flying pre-evolution with MovePsychic and MoveThunder Wave at stats too low to compete. AbilitySynchronize bounces status back to the attacker. Xatu improves both Speed and Sp. Atk.

Moves List
Don't skip the egg moves. Natu picks up Drill Peck and Feather Dance only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Future Sight and Psychic while Ghost and Normal coverage and more adds range.

Base Stats
NATU cannot fly because its wings are not yet fully grown. If your eyes meet with this POKéMON’s eyes, it will stare back intently at you. But if you move even slightly, it will hop away to safety.
NATU has a highly developed jumping ability. The POKéMON flaps and leaps onto tree branches that are taller than grown-up people to pick at the tree’s new shoots.
Natu Ruby & Sapphire Guide
- Where in the Ruby & Sapphire Safari Zone can I find Natu?
See the Locations section above for where to find Natu in Ruby & Sapphire.
Safari rules: You can only use Safari Balls. No battling. Two tactical items shift the catch/flee trade-off:
- Throw bait to keep Natu from fleeing (flee rate cut to 1/4) but it becomes harder to catch (catch factor halved).
- Throw a rock to make Natu easier to catch (catch factor doubled) but it flees twice as often.
- Each effect lasts 2-6 random turns; throwing one cancels the other.
In Ruby & Sapphire, Natu does the job early-game if you need a Psychic/Flying type on your team. Evolve it into Xatu before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
Game Availability
Natu first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 16 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
