During times of strong sunlight, its bud blooms, its petals open fully, and it becomes very active.

If it senses strong sunlight, it opens its folded petals to absorb the sun’s rays with its whole body.

Cherrim X & Y Guide

  • For X & Y, we rate Cherrim C-Tier: a niche pick in X & Y's meta. At 450 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Sunnyday with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Cherrim. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Flower Gift increases friendly Pokémon's Attack and Special Defense to 1.5× during strong sunlight. That's the one you want on Cherrim. It's the only ability Cherrim has.

  • Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Cherrim is a special attacker with base 87 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In X & Y, run Sunnyday, Healing Wish, Energy Ball, and Aromatherapy on Cherrim. Sunnyday is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the balanced role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Available in 12 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Cherrim spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
