Yveltal Weakness

Electric, Ice, Rock, and Fairy moves hit Yveltal for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground and Psychic-type moves can't touch it at all. Yveltal's overall bulk (126/95/98) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Yveltal Guide

  • For the Sword & Shield meta, At 680 BST, Yveltal is built different. We rank it S-Tier. As a Legendary Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • In Sword & Shield, watch for Raikou (Electric), Weavile (Ice), and Terrakion (Rock) when using Yveltal. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. Yveltal has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Dark Aura strengthens dark moves to 1.33× their power for all friendly and opposing Pokémon. That's the one you want on Yveltal. It's the only ability Yveltal has.

  • In Sword & Shield, Yveltal fills the wallbreaker role. It's a mixed attacker with base 131 Attack and 131 Sp. Atk. Base 99 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • For Sword & Shield, Yveltal has answers, but so do you. Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Physical attackers can break through.

Game Availability

Yveltal has appeared in 6 games since X & Y, spanning 5 generations. As a Legendary, it's typically a one-per-save encounter tied to the story or post-game content.
